The collection contains a complete set of membership meeting minutes, business agent correspondence, financial and budget material, roll call books, apprenticeship training records, and grievance records. The materials date between 1947 and 1982.

  • Historical Note

Sheet metal workers fabricate and install ducts used in heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and a variety of other products. Their work is located in the construction, manufacturing, service, railroad and shipyard industries.

Sheet Metal Workers' International Association began in 1888 to establish and maintain desirable working conditions for its members through their employers. The Local 94 chapter was first located in Menominee County, Wisconsin and served that county along with the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan; over time, the chapter moved to Marquette County, Michigan, began to only serve the Upper Peninsula, and changed to Zone 5 of Local 7, the chapter of the Sheet Metal Workers' International Association that governs Michigan.
